Mro. Robert Ferrer announced as Conductor of City of Humanity 1

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Mro. Robert Ferrer as the conductor of City of Humanity 1. As Mro. Ferrer is an internationally acclaimed conductor who has performed with various groups in his native Spain as well as abroad, his contribution will certainly have a significant impact on the project.

After graduating in Conducting and Tuba from the Superior Conservatory of Music "Joaquín Rodrigo" in Valencia, Robert Ferrer attended courses and masterclasses in Conducting with Manuel Galduf, later also with Sylvain Cambreling in Mainz and Luxembourg, with Zsolt Nagy in Brno and with Yaron Traub, Enrique García Asensio and Cristóbal Soler in Valencia. Furthermore, he was awarded a scholarship to continue his studies in Conducting with Czech conductor Jiří Bělohlávek in Madrid, Paris and London. Nowadays he is doctoral candidate in Conducting and Musicology.

Mro. Ferrer has led many notable groups as principal or guest conductor such as Orchestra Mare Nostrum in Valencia, Youth Symphony Orchestra of FSMCV, Symphony Orchestra of the Superior Conservatory of Music in Valencia, Youth Orchestra of the Region of Valencia (JOGV), Ensemble Opera Diversa in Brno, performing in festivals as the International Contemporary Music Festival "Ensems" in Valencia, Cycle "Las Artes en Paralelo" from Palau de la Música in Valencia, Festival International de Musique Universitaire (FIMU) in Belfort and Biennale de la Méditerranée in Thessaloniki. During his career Mro. Robert Ferrer has performed in numerous prestigious concert halls, such as the Municipal Centre for Musical Activities of Thessaloniki, Mozart´s Hall of Reduta Theater in Brno, Martinů´s Hall of HAMU in Prague, Centre Chorégraphique National in Belfort, Teatros del Canal in Madrid, Palau de les Arts, Palau de la Música in Valencia and Auditori de Castelló.

In 2006 Mro. Ferrer founded the Ensemble Col Legno, and as its artistic director and chief conductor he has conducted various premieres of new works and other performances in Valencia and abroad. The group has also recorded several CDs. Apart from conducting, Mro. Ferrer is a board member of various associations and organizations such as the M.I. Academy of Valencian Music from 2010, Association of Electroacoustic Music of Spain (AMEE) from 2013 and Spanish Society of Musicology (SEdeM) from 2015, among others. From 2017 he is professor at the International University of Valencia (VIU) and during season 2017-2018 he collaborates as assistant conductor in the National Theater in Brno.

Mro. Ferrer is being generously supported by the Spanish Embassy in Malta.
