Amy Borg, one of the young authors working on the libretto of the second opera tells us briefly why, at such a young age she feels the need to communicate through the arts. Artists form one of the most varied sectors of society, as they are represented by a variety of different talents: writers, dancers, singers, musicians, painters, sculptors, and actors, amongst many others. Still, one might ask, why have many people decided to jump on this bandwagon?
I was first introduced to the piano when I was six years old, and still play it to this day. However, nowadays the style of music I play has changed, as well as my approach to the instrument. Nowadays, for example, I prefer to compose my own pieces and create covers. This is one of the many reasons why I like to invest my time in the arts. When you look back at your past, you can see how well you’ve improved in what you do, how it helped you evolve, and how your perspective of the world around you has changed.
When I wrote my first poem, I was around eight years old, and now that I look back at it, it seems more like a playful rhyme. I had always liked rhyming words together and evaluating the connection that could be made between them, and it was one of my favourite games to play with my grandad back when I was younger. As I got older, I realized that poetry was more than rhyming words, and started to write more about personal experiences than anything else. I started to experiment with various writing styles, and a vaster array of topics. The difference when it comes to poetry, as opposed to my piano playing, is that you can physically see the changes you’ve gone through as you grow.
I wasn’t very much into prose before I was enrolled into this project. However, our capital was always something that inspired me, as was theatrical music. This project offered me a fresh new experience, out of the everyday routine, incorporating two of the most breath-taking elements, our culture, and the arts.
Above all, the arts are an amazing and somewhat ancient way of human expression, and their main purpose is without a doubt to let people escape the monotonous everyday routine and be themselves freely.
